Grimshaw, Alberta – The North Peace Commercial Driving Academy, a joint venture between the Peace River School Division and Northwestern Polytechnic, has officially kicked off its inaugural class. Amid much anticipation, the Academy soft launched on June 10, welcoming its first cohort of aspiring Class 1 drivers.

Registration Opens to the Public

While the inaugural Class 1 MELT Program driver training program is already underway, the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy is gearing up for its public opening and registration phase. Starting sometime in July, prospective students will be able to apply for the upcoming August intake. Spots in the program will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, and prospective students will be able to indicate their preference for a few different session start dates on their registration form.

Grand Opening Celebration

The Academy’s official Grand Opening is scheduled for September 17. This exclusive event will bring together industry leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders. Background

The vision of the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy is to address the local economy’s need for highly-skilled commercial drivers. With the launch of the Class 1 MELT program, the Academy now offers both Class 1 and Class 2S driver training. Prior to obtaining approval for the driving academy, the Peace River School Division had a successful history of offering a Class 2S driver training program. This driver training program is now being offered under the umbrella of the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy.
