Revving Up Success: North Peace Commercial Driving Academy Welcomes First Students

This week marks an exciting milestone for the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy as it officially opens its doors to its inaugural class of students. Among them is Damien Fortier, a graduate of Hines Creek Composite School within the Peace River School Division.

For Damien, heavy trucks aren’t just vehicles; they’re a part of his DNA. Fond memories of his Grandpa’s trucking business and the oil fields linger in his mind. His father, too, was a truck driver, and the family’s farming background further fueled Damien’s passion. Soon to be armed with a Class 1 license, Damien sees this opportunity as another tool in his toolkit to a promising career.

As he completes the comprehensive course and prepares for the provincial driving test, Damien has big plans. First, he’ll put his license to work in his job on a farm. Then, during the winter months when farming takes a backseat, he aims to secure a truck-driving job—a move that promises both adventure and stability.

The North Peace Commercial Driving Academy celebrates not only its soft opening but also the road ahead for students like Damien.
